What does the DEIJB Lab do

What does the DEIJB Lab do?

The DEIJB Lab engages multi-sectoral stakeholders through raising awareness in workshops, school talks, teacher training, and designing teaching materials and other resources such as toolkits, interactive games and learning content to facilitate enhanced understandings of implicit biases and systemic exclusion and their harmful and deleterious negative impact on students and society at large. The DEIJB Lab works towards raising awareness of the prevalence and impact of these harms and designs bespoke interventions to facilitate prevention and their eradication on a systemic and structural level.

Support schools to develop and implement inclusion policies and guidelines, empowering key stakeholders to create safe and inclusive learning environments in which every child belongs and can thrive.

Co-create inclusion toolkits to eradicate bias and strengthen justice-learning pathways and belonging within the educational environment.

Provide capacity building workshops and training for teachers and school boards to enhance their competencies in relation to diversity, equity, and inclusion, justice and belonging, enabling them to effectively deliver in and outside the classroom using DEIJB-aligned approaches.

Support teachers in the development of inclusion-aligned curricula and classroom practices reflecting the diversity of students' backgrounds and experiences as represented within the school body and more broadly, across HK.

Develop age-appropriate, Hong Kong-specific activities, units and games for use in curriculum or as extra-curricular activities to facilitate enhanced awareness of under- and mis-represented communities as part of counter-stereotyping measures.

Establish Communities of Practice for Teaching and Learning comprising dedicated hubs and net-works to co-create bias eradication and inclusion toolkits, strengthen justice learning pathways and cultivate bonds and belonging for every child in every classroom and school.
